Once a green card has been issued - even a 2-year (conditional) green card - what are the rules on traveling abroad?

My wife will probably have to enter the States on her CR-1 visa approximately 4 months before my job finishes here in Canada.

I know the CR-1 is a single-entry visa. However, once she has her green card in hand, can she visit me here in Canada - provided it's only a week or two at a time, rather than a few months at a time?

We don't want to be judged in abandonment of our home, but - on the other hand - she will have to live with friends and I would not have immigrated back to the States at the time she has to use her CR-1 visa. We won't have a permanent address until a few weeks after I immigrate back to the States.

I hope that made sense. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Once she has her green card she can visit you as many times as she wants as long as she does not stay more than one year or be a resident in another country. Go to www.UCIS.gov search Permanent Resident Benefits and Responsibilities. Hopes this helps
