Hello Everyone :)

Greeting from China. My fiance and I are going through the K1 process. We are waiting for P3 right now. And I am preparing DS 230 Part 1 beforehand. And Question #2 is kinda confusing to me.

In all my legal documents, I only have my Chinese name. But I chose an English name for myself when I was 14. It has never appeared on any documents in a legal sense, being just a name that I used among friends. And I have been using my English name in all the correspondence with my fiance. Therefore, I did put my English name together with my Chinese family name in the box of "All Other Names Used" on the G-325A when we were filing the I-129F petition.

Some people say any other names that don't appear on any legal documents shoudn't be put in the DS 230 Part 1 when answering Question #2.

So my question is: should I put my English name in the box of Question #2 on DS 230 Part 1 to be consistent with my G-325A and also to show that I am the one who has been corresponding with my fiance in the U.S.? Or is it unwise to do so?

Thanks in advance for your attention! Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated! :D

You can put your chosen English name but it isn't really required. Since you put it on the G325, I would say go ahead and put it here as well. The consulate in GUZ is well aware of the practice of choosing an English name so that in itself won't be a problem when showing the evidence of communication.

Thanks for your help! I was just concerned that the question would be more legally official than I thought. On the other hand, I would feel funny if I wasn't consistent with G-325A.

Maybe I thought too much. Anyway, I really appreciate your reply! Hope you enjoy a great day/night!
