Hey guys,

Just recently found this site, and I had a couple of questions. I'll outline my whole timeline and situation for you to get the most accurate answers.

So my wife and I have been married since early 2010. We met while I was in college, and she was visiting, and lived together in the U.S. while she was on her Canadian visitor visa for two years. We made the decision to get married, and were wed in 2010. In February this year, with me being the only one working, money became pretty tight, and I had to move to start another job, and we made the decision for her to go stay with family in Ontario so that she could work as well. We have visited each other about every month, a days drive is nothing to see your spouse, right? :) Anyway, we want to bring her back to the U.S. as quickly as possible legally, and I'm unsure of the best way to go about this. From what I've read, the CR1 visa seems to be the way we'd go, but is it really a 9 month wait to get her back to the U.S.?

I guess my biggest question is, will she still be able to come down and visit me once we start the process. I for sure cannot wait 9 months to see my spouse...

Thanks for reading, and thank you in advance for any help.

Yes it takes an average of 9 months. It can take longer if you make mistakes on your paperwork or forget to include things. But that's where this site come in handy, lots of reference material and people to ask questions of.

If you take a look at the Canada Forum, you'll see there's been a lot of visiting while the process goes on. The trick is to bring proof of ties to Canada so they know she's going to leave again. Check out the threads to learn more about the Canadian issues.
