I recently sent my I-129 packet to Texas and it is on its way to California but my fiance and I got assulted yesterday and they took my purse which had my passport because we were on the way to go on our trip to Orlando. I dont have my birth certificate here in Cancun so I sent copies of my passport for proof of US citizenship. I have to get a new passport now but what do I do? When I get the new one should I send it to California. What if they look up the passport and see that it is reported stolen, should I call them and let them know? This is just awful :crying:

IMO I would contact them to let them know - then there wont be any confusion (in theory), about whether the stolen passport has knowingly been used to initiate a petition.

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

I have been trying to find phone numbers but I cant find any where I can call from Mexico. The only number I found was for automated service, nothing else. I just sent them an email but will keep looking for a phone number. Hopefully the tomorrow when I go to the US consulate they can help me in some way. I have all the copies of my passport and stuff.

I called them yesterday, thats the US consulate in Mexico City but because it was saturday they were closed as well as here in Cancun. My biggest concern is getting a hold of the California Service center to let them know too. :(. This could not have come at a worse time, just cant believe this. Just makes us want to move even more.
