Hi!

Got my Finnish Police certificate few days ago but I wonder if it's sufficient enough?

Read on the NVC instructions that a police certificate needs to include:

#Cover the entire period of the applicant’s residence in that area

# Have been issued by the appropriate police authority

My police certificate is issued by the appropriate police authority and is in English (and planning to have an appostille with it as well) but it doesn't cover the period that I've been resident in Finland (which is all my life, except 1 month last spring.)

SO if anybody from Finland or from Scandinavia is reading this, did your police certificate cover the entire period you've been living in the country? I asked them (in Finnish: oikeusrekisterikeskus) to add it, if it's possible, but they just didn't put it there so I'm wondering if this is just the normal procedure and the US Embassy and NVC will accept my police certificate as it is??

Thank you!! :star:(F)

Not sure if Finland is like in Norway but when my fiance got his it covered his entire lifetime and he only had to go to the local police department to get a application and return it - they in turn sent him a letter that said he had no police record show up.

If you were a LEGAL resident in another country you would have to get a record from that country also. BUT if you were just traveling outside of the country on holiday I would not think you would have to do anything else. Perhaps someone else knows the answer.. good luck :)

THANKS!!! Sounds like I better double check it!

Would assume Finland and Norway might have similar procedures with this.
