Greetings fellow VJ members,

My wife and I were married on May 12th In Misamis Occidental Philippines, and have been trying to get our Certified Marriage Contract from the Philippines NSO. When we were married we were told that it would take 3 months. After 3 months we checked with the closest NSO office and they stated no record had been returned. My wife then checked in the Cebu NSO and they did not have it yet ether and also stated they only had records threw March as of yet. She then contacted the local NSO office Ozamiz and they told her they could give her a transmittal letter (Or something like that) so she could pick it up in Manilia. Now today she again went to NSO in Cebu and they stated they had files up threw April (Which sounded great until), but then stated it would take 6 months to a year for them to have the file.

Is there anyway we can get the C.M.C. without her traveling all the way to Manila? This is a nightmare because our petition was approved and we are on the NVC stage now. No one else seems to have waited this long to get theirs. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

i dont think you can do medicals if you do not have your interview letter yet. i have read a lot of posts saying you can, but the truth is you can only do it once you have your appointment letter since that is the requirement of St. Lukes. i have been having trouble with NSO for the past 2 years!!!

we got married last June here in Misamis Oriental too... I dont have my marriage cert for NSO, i will just use our Civil marriage Cert in New York. I'm having my medicals in a few days and interview in 3 weeks, hopefully they wont give me a hard time because of that. Esp. because im pregnant and the clock is ticking, i have a few weeks to go before i am still allowed to fly. so goodluck to me and to you as well...

NSO is a big headache esp for us who are not from Manila.

btw, i was told to process it in Manila and wait for a year to get the cert...

Did you check with the Local Civil Registrar where you both got married? Sometimes the delays are with them. It maybe because they had not forwarded it yet to the NSO office the reason why you marriage is not yet on their data base.

yes its really take 6 months or a year to release the MC from NSo but you can request is the longest time for special request is one month.cause normally NSO registered all MC for about 6 months .

i got married last aaugust 24 2011 and i have to wait for 1 month to release our mc then i we will start to process IR-CR1 coz i need also mc for my passposrt change status .

I hope and wish everything goes well to both of us

GOD BLESS!

Try to ask at the NSO about advance endorsement of your Marriage certificate to NSO Manila. I did that with my kids birth certificate last 3 years ago I think. We requested an advance endorsement of their birth certificate because we needed it for their passport and citizenship as one of the requirements. So maybe they can do it also with marriage certificate. Here in Cebu you have to register it first in City health, then they forward the records to NSO Cebu and then NSO Cebu will forward it to NSO Manila so that they can have it in the database. That is why it takes months to have a copy of marriage or birth certificate from the NSO. That is what I experienced.

Money is not the root of evil. It is the Love of Money is the evil.

We were supposed to have advance endorsement. I donno what happened. My wife even had a relative in the municipal hall office where the marriage contract goes threw. We took ice cream and soda to them when we first applied trying to be nice. Apparently that wasn't enough...

Now my wife and I are quarreling over it all.
