Hello...

My POE will be on the 19th, MNL - GUAM - HOU and I have stop over between Guam-Houston flight for 1.25hrs in Hawaii. I know my POE is in Guam but just a bit confused where I will get through customs? Hawaii or Houston?

Thanks in advance....

Hello,

as soon as you land on US territory, you'll have to pick up your luggage and go through customs and do the whole immigration process.

Good luck!

That is not correct. You will go through immigration in Guam but you will clear customs in Hawaii. Your bags will be checked all the way through. They will explain it to you on the plane. I live in Guam and take the flight often. In fact most people don't realize there is no US Customs in Guam. The US controls immigration but Guam has their own customs you have to clear. Guam is a territory not a US state.

Sam is right. I fly MNL-GUM-HNL-IAH all the time. I just wanted to elaborate a little bit.

In Guam, you go through immigrations. And then you go through TSA security. Also, at the gate that leaves for Hawaii, you go through immigrations for a second time before boarding.

In Hawaii, you go to baggage claim and then clear customs. And then you drop off your bags at the nearby bag check area and then actually exit the airport. So you have to go back to the departure area and clear TSA security again.

In Houston, you don't have to go through anything else. Just pick up your bags.

I'm confused on why you would get your bags in Honolulu...she will be on the same flight going onto Houston....the flight number does not change. I'm assuming it's the same plane. Will she still need to claim her bags?

You have to pick up your bags in Hawaii so you can clear US customs. That will be the first and last time you have to clear customs.
