POE Question-Family traveling togeather

So looking forward my wife has an interview in early November and if all goes well then and she has her visa in hand then this scnerio will likely happen, if she does not have it well, this is not gonna happen.

I will be unable to travel to India and bring my wife with me back to the USA. But, there is a possibility that my Sister-in-law might be traveling there well after my wife has her visa (if all works out ok at the interview).

My question is this...

My SIL is a USC. If they travel together I know some lines let husband and wives that are traveling together go thru the same line and pretty much go through the who POE experience together. Will they allow this to happen for both of them? I understand that my SIL is not a direct relative, but the thought ran across my mind as they might be traveling together. A few times when I have traveled they let family that is traveling together go up to the counter to get stamped back into the USA at the same time. So I dunno?

I can only tell you about Newark and Houston--I asked at both the last time I was there, and was told in no uncertain terms that either line is OK, and yet there are people here and there on this site that said they had problems in the USC line and had to go to the other line...my wife flies into Newark tomorrow and she is heading to the USC line, so we will have first hand information very soon.

But of course what happens at Newark has nothing to do with any other POE, but since Houston and Newark CBP agents told me exactly the same thing, I am guessing the odds favor the USC line as being OK.
