Hey I am currently visiting my fiance in England and we were emailed saying an RFE is requested (all my mail is being forwarded to my parents while I'm here). My mom is going to mail us the RFE when she receives it (I am figuring that we will need to sign something anyway) but is it okay to mail it from England? Or should I mail it BACK to my mom in the US to send it from there?

Anyway have some insight on this?

Thanks!

Errr...I mean AnyONE, not Anyway....my brain is melting...

As long as it is sent to the appropriate place and has the correct info in it, as well as on the envelope, you should not have a problem with it..

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I honestly don't think it's going to make a difference either way you do it, but if it helps you make a desicion it's actually illegal under US and UK laws to send an envelope containing a sealed envelope with an address on it either way between the countries!

Found that out when I was down the post office today when I asked the server if I could send all my letters back home to mum and ask her to post them on for me. He got the book out and showed me! eek!!

I guess it's to stop people pretending they're still in the other country to avoid fraud or whatever.

Hey Adam, I noticed you got your SSN. When are immigrants able to apply for one. After they are married or can they get it before, like if they want to Temp work before the wedding?

Also, to all: Is it possible to call in at the CSC and find out what the RFE is for before you get the mail? I being in England and mail being forwarded to another part of Washington State it may take a couple days to get there.

Hi BlueRain,

I was confused about this too. It took me a few months of reading threads here to realise this!

You can apply for your SSN as soon as you enter the country on your K1. It will be stamped with "Valid for work only with DHS authorization". And your DHS authorization is your K1 visa.

i.e. you can work from the time you get your SSN to the time your K1 expires.

If I'd realized earlier I would have got a job right away!! Too late now, as I only have 1 day of my K1 left!!
