Hi all,

My fiance applied for a tourist visa in June of this year and was turned down because he could not prove sufficient ties to Jamaica.

He still has his original police certificate dated in June of this year. Does anyone have any feedback on how recent the certificate needs to be? I read that the police certificate does not expire for one year, but I want to make sure that is correct before his interview.

Thank you!!

Sita

More than likely, they are going to request an updated police certificate - if you read back through posts, there was a point recently where JA required people to get one dated as of a certain date (some of whom it was their actual interview date). I would rather be safe then sorry and update it.

Sus,

I agree, it is better to be safe than sorry! I read that Jamaica required all police certificates to be re-done after June 24, 2010 so that wouldn't apply to him. However, I think you are right - better to have him get the updated one just in case. Thanks for your advice!

Yup, that's when it happened - But people literally had interviews on June 24 and they got blue slipped to get new police reports dated after June 24th, it was crazy

Here is an update to the question I posted re. police certificates. I received this email from the Kingston embassy today:

From: "Kingston, IVinfo" <kingstonivinfo@state.gov>

Good day

Police certificates are valid for one (1) year and you will need 2009/2010 income tax return with W2 along with your I-134.

No, sorry EagleEyed - I didn't mean for that to be misleading.. The part about the taxes and w-2 was regarding another question I had asked regarding what financial information I needed to send.

He needs the police certificate either way. I was trying to figure out how long the police certificate remained valid.
