Hello, I am an American citizen and my fiance is a Canadian citizen. I am about to send in my I-129F petition to the Texas office and then set it up so his interview is in Montreal. I am seeing a lot of different waiting times for each location but none of the times I see have been recent.

Could any fellow Canadian that has recently applied please infom me on how long it took for your I-129 to be approved in Texas and how long it took you to get your interview in Montreal??

Thank you sooooo much for your response in advance I greatly appreciate it

Sincerly

Christine

It doesn't matter what country your fiancé is from. The processing times for an I-129f is 5 months. The times vary within that processing time. The only way to know when yor case will be approved is to be best friends with the person adjucating your case. Count on 5 months, best of luck getting it earlier than that. It happens.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

Ours was approved in about 4 months. You don't set up his interview to be at Montreal it is determined by where he lives. You or he will book your interview after packet 3 has been sent to Montreal and logged then packet 4 sent to you. You have plenty of time, relax then look at the the requirements for packet 3. Your fiance can check with his family Dr to see if all his immunizations are up to date etc.

Good luck :-)

You are most welcome. This is a great site for help. I sent you a little message with some more info, check your messages. Don't stress....you are just starting. 5 months is just the first part....then you have NVC stage and the lovely Montreal situation.

just a heads up if you haven't seen this yet. http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

thos are all the steps of the process. Its approx 5 months just for the first approval. Total time will be more than 5 months most likely.

Also a note Montreal has been really horrible lately so when you get to that stage, you can get packet 3 from the Montreal website instead of waiting for them to mail it. You can complete packet 3 and send it back to Montreal when you have your MTL case number and know that MTL has the case.

get the MTL case number after USCIS approval by calling NVC. Give it about a week and then call DOS ( department of state ) give them MTL case number and ask if MTL has the case, if yes download P3 from MTL website and get it all together and mail it to them. Wait a bit then call DOS again and ask if P4 is logged if yes then you can book interview time and then when you have interview confirmation you can book medical and get the medical done.

Montreal is, unfortunately, one of the slowest consulates in the world. It's terribly backlogged and paperwork sits there for months. Once your I-129F is approved (usually around 5-6 months), expect another 4-5 month wait for an interview in Montreal. My whole process took 9 months.

coconuts- thank you for sharing your time frame!

I'm glad I know what Im getting into. Its too bad they only do the interviews at the 2 locations sometimes I feel like people dont understand how large Canada is! lol

The good thing is that with Montreal, you book your own date. And even if you get a date far away, you can always reschedule if an earlier one frees up. I suggest looking in the Canada forum for more people who have experience with Montreal. :) There's lots of us!
