Hey Guys, I have read around the threads that there is a way to track your file when it gets shipped to Embassy, I just wanted to know, does the idea work? I have read mix reviews of the ways, but I wanted to ask if people have tried the method and how good it was. I was going to call NVC today and see if they have shipped my files out to Embassy, Thank for the info.

1. NVC sets an appointment date for you and sends out your package to the US Embassy. If you're really #######, paranoid, or just a busybody, you can track the package status. You can use the date after your interview was assigned, as the tracking reference date, and then do a search on DHL. The format to use is "EXP 07 OCT 2008A" don't forget the spaces...and to set the date range on the tracking page. The website for tracking is.http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRefThe package may not go out on the next day, but the reference code will still be for that date. When your package is able to be tracked, it will make more sense. You'll see a list of packages going to different embassies. You'll know which one is yours.

you can try this, hehe

of course use your dates of when you got your notice like EXP 23 JUL 2011A.........hen use a date or two difference in the tracting ref date....

So in my case I received the e-mail from NVC regarding the interview on Wed Aug 17, 2011, so I use 08/18/2011? so when I search on the website it would be EXP 08 Aug 2011A, right?

How did you get your case moved to Chennai Consulate? Did NVC did it for you?

How did you get your case moved to Chennai Consulate? Did NVC did it for you?

NVC gave us Mumbai Consulate by mistake and I called them and told them that I should get Chennai Consulate and the operator verified my wife's address and checked it and put up the case for the supervisor to make the change. It was done in 5 days.

However it delayed my AOS mailing by 5 days, as I paid my AOS fee while I had Mumbai case number and the AOS fee didn't change status for 7 days - till I pushed them to get it rectified. Of course they told me that I can always use the IV cover sheet to send AOS packet and vis-a-versa but by that time I got the AOS cover sheet.

yes

I remember from old thread that you use one date less than the email date (8/16) and work upwards. And I am not sure how good a guess this would be, as there could be other cases going to the same consulate. At least you get a good feeling that one of those could be carrying your case papers. all the best.
