Hey everybody,

I have written a couple of posts on the whole PCC issue and read a lot of other people's posts and threads. People here have been very helpful, which I really appreciate. However, different people have, with the best of intentions, advised different things, and in reading other threads I also see that there are various suggestions as to what exactly is needed when it comes to PCC's.

I am thinking of directly emailing the Mumbai Consulate with our situation and asking what exactly they will need. My question to everyone here is-- has anyone in the past asked the consulate what PCC's they will need, then followed that, but then still were told at the interview (or at the VFS office) that they were missing something? I would think that since the PCC's will be reviewed by the consulate (or the VFS office?--another point of confusion), that what the consulate tells me should be what they actually need. What do you think? Or, should I ask the people at the VFS office?

Thanks so much.

Directly call (or email) the Mumbai Consulate, I think they are open from 2-4p and ask if you still have doubts.

You can try your luck - I dont think consulate will tell u exactly what all PCC you need.

There are only 2 pcc Passport Clearance and Police Clearance.

You dont require passport clearance if your passport was issued in last 6 months.

Police clearance you need a police clearance from all the places where one has resided for over a year at any given time after age of 16.

Message me if you need help, I did mine thru Mumbai.

Thats new to me.

It is to my understand if your passport was issued in less than 6 months the only one that you need for the interview is Passport Clearance Certificate, not local police clearance certificate.

The Passport Office issue Passport Clearance Certificate on the basis of Police Verification Certificate (Which is called local PCC) Which can be obtained at local DSP office

Thats correct. Even though my wife got her passport less than 6 months ago she still had to get local PCC to be able to obtain the passport clearance cert. after she

If passport was issued in last 6 months, passport clearance is not required as they assume it was done when your passport was issued and you only need the police clearance.

Most ppl get confused and even I am not sure why consulate is asking for both as for both they go thru same paper work or process.

The only diff is one is issued at Federal level and other is issued more at local State level.
