Hi everyone.

I am a UK citizen, and live in London with my US fiancee. He has been here for a few years on consecutive 3 year visas. We would like to move to the US, and I'm looking into the DCF CR1 option. So we would marry and submt application in London. Wow, there's such a lot of info to get my head round!

I just wanted to ask a very quick question- does anyone know how long it is currently taking from start to finish? ie submitting application to being able to move to US? I've noticed on the guide on this site it says three months, but on another site I've been told that it out of date and it's now more like 8- 10 months.

Thank you so much!

We submitted March 10 and my husband has his visa interview next week. It's been about 5.5 months from submission to that point. We submitted a few weeks before they posted that 8-10 month timeline so I'm not sure. You might find that it's faster to do a fiancee visa-- but I'm not sure.

Not sure where in the guides it says 3 months, but that sounds more like a figure for the I-130, ie just till approval of the initial petition.

You can look at the Processing Times link to see current statistics, but it can vary from month to month. Also, the fiance and spousal visas vary in which is quicker.

Really, the 8-10 month figure is always a good one to remember. Yes, a lot of the time it is quicker, but you need to be open to planning on 8-10 months and then be pleased if it is quicker.

We filed in January (DCF) and are still waiting on an interview date (due to a backlog our petition was forwarded to Rome for processing). Long before the embassy website posted the 8-10 month wait time. And like you, we read on this website that it take 3-6 months.

I think to best be prepared, it can take anywhere between 4-9 months. But it really does depend on your case and how busy they are when you file. Good luck.

Shermeen and Adam-- have you tried calling the number at the embassy to get the email code so you can email the immigration unit at the embassy? We did so in order to find out what our interview date was. I wonder if your case has been mishandled-- you should call them up and I bet it will speed up your interview date if you are still waiting for one.
