quick question for my fellow nigerians

Ok people i have a slight issue and i need help, suggestions from people who have gone through similar situations.

So my fiance got his new ecowas(nigerian) passport in april, i was starting to fill out the forms for him when i noticed the given name on his passport is switched backwards so for example his name is john Doe on everyhtin else including the I-129f but on his passport they put his last name at the top and then the given names were swithed to Doe John as opposed to the other way round, now will this be an issue? if it is going to be, would it be possible to change that before our interview date in october or should i not worry about it? trying not to get nervouse here. Thanks for your opinions and suggestions.

There cant be any changes now.but u can write an explanatory letter in that respect during the interview.

I thought u fill the form 1-29 as written in ur passport.

The surname comes first,then other names

his new passport was issued to him in April, i applied for the petition in feb. His old pasport has his name the way it should be but it needed to be changed because the passports were no longer going to be valid after March. i guess ill write a letter statin his name is supposed to be John Doe as opposed to Doe John which is on the passport. Hope that would be sufficient though.

U should be fine no worries because even when it is DOE John u still put it write on the petition because either way it go john is the first name and Doe is the last or surname and in the passport they just put last name first........no worries

thanks patient 2010 but its the middle names i am having the issue with. so the last name is fine but the middle names are reversed on the passport. on every other docs it is John Doe but on the passport the given names right below surname is written as Doe John and thats why i am worried.

We had a similar situation with my husband. His birth certificate says John Mark Doe, but his passport that is four years old says Mark John Doe. We applied for the visa using the birth certificate name John Mark Doe, but USCIS changed it to be what the passport says Mark John Doe, and this is how we've been submittign all of his paper work since. I believe that the visa and the passport should be in synch so there are no issues when you travel. They understand that in Nigeria people flip flop these names and it is no big issue.
