We sent our I-129f on the 15th july and our check took untill the 29th to be cashed. We still havnt yet received the NOA1, I know it can take some time but does this mean they havnt started working on it? If a month goes by and you havnt received the NOA1 does an extra month get added on to the typical time you expect to wait?

We were planning on me entering the US mid January.

THe NOA 1 will have the date when they received your application. So let's say they received in on the 20th of July, and you get your NOA August 5th, the NOA will be dated July 20th. As far as how much work would they do on the file itself while your application sits with them we may never know. All i know is that it takes about 20 minutes for an application to be checked and for the background check to be complete, yet the process takes a few months... I submitted my application end of June and initially thought he will be here end of December but at this point seeing how slow things work it may very well take much longer.
