Thanks for posting this link. I have been doing major searching about this topic and hadn't come across these post in the link you posted. This a big help. Heck I didn't know it was called a CRBA until someone replied to my original post. All my American friends in the RP are old, and have went through these steps years and years ago and the process has changed.

On a side note: When I first read about the exit permit, I got a little PO'd at the thought of just another useless CFO stamp. Then after I thought about it, I guess its necessary to keep track of the population, without it the RP government wouldn't have a record of whether the child was a resident or not? I guess its a census type issue?

you wont need an exit permit if you have your sons philippine passport. when we recieved our daughters american passport we recieved the same notice not only does it cost a lot of money to get the permit but its also time comsuming so we went to the beaur of immigration and they told us all we needed is to get our daughter an philippine passport and we could skip the exit permit because of her dual citizenship thats whe we told you b4 to get both passports. we have gone through what you are going through now the easiest cheapsest way to go is have both passports. we didnt know about vj at that time and had to find everything out by ourselves which was really hard to do in the philippines. For your son to leave the philippines with you all you need is the american and philippine passport

along with the CRBA i went ahead and applied my daughter and i dual citizenship to avoid any fines upon leaving the PI.

[i did reply in one of ur post. Exit permit is for those who are not Phil. Passport holder. Since u have both then u don't need an exit permit.

When i travelled back to US with my son i did get the exit permit coz he only had the US passport .I only got his Phil. Passport here.

U don't have to worry about the permit. U can get it from BI or at the airport upon paying ur terminal fees. Not sure how much now coz i paid like 1,200 but that was 3 years ago.

Actually i inquired at our local bureau of immigration and its different from what they told me at BI in manila.

BI manila told me that if i fisrt got my sons phil. passport before the US passport issueance then i dont have to have the Exit permit.I'll just show both the Phil and US passport at immigration.

Local Bureau of immigration in our city told me that if the US passport was issued first before the Phil passport then i need to apply for exit permit....Iam confused but of course i'd rather follow what the main office in the phils rather.

that is what our local BI told me.but when i called up BI Manila, the lady told me that if they issue my son's phil. passport first then i dont need exit permit. But if the US passport issued first before the phil passport then you'lle have to get the exit permit...So i'd rather believe of what the BI Manila told me than our local office.
