So after the embassy recieves and is ready for you to interview... how long is the waiting time?

What I mean is, how quickly do you get in for the appointment?

What have thos who have scheduled seen?

I am hoping our will be in early sept, but based on NVC and routing times am curious if this is even plausible. right now expect NVC to have Aug 10, and embassy about aug 16, with being able to call to schedule Aug 24. Just wondering what days I may be looking at.

Thanks,

Once she have her MNL case number, she can now pay at BPI and have her appointment scheduled ONLINE the next day. Yes ONLINE, its intentionally CAPS. Their scheduling website has some glitch, I think. :D

My 2cnd notice of action was dated June 17

I recieved a letter dated June 30 that gave me an MNL# . It was signed Bureau of Consular Affairs

and says they are sending application to the embassy , my fiance' should get a letter from the embassy soon.

We did the Medical, using the MNl#

Last night I signed into make the appointment on line,

I heard you can't make the appointment until they have your application physically at the embassy.

Sounds like Kish is saying you can make the appointment as soon as you have your mnl# and pay the fee.

It can't hurt to try.

I made my appointment last night at 2 am here in the states.

there was one appointment avail for next thursday or friday and then there were a bunch available in mid august.

I can belive that those with K-1 are able to have a appoinment in August while many of us here with CR-1 are in the waiting until September. I really don't understand that process?

thanks for the information.

AS soon as we have the case number, we are going to pay the fee.

I have also heard you cannot schedule until the application is input at the embassy as well. I am not certain how accurate that is online. But I will find out.

I am just wondering about the dates. I have time at work plus college in September where not much is going on for a couple of weeks. With the long processing times, I am worried it will not happen in September. The dates get harder into October and first of November of course, it might get extended if the USCIS has to re-certify in October.

thanks for the help so far

The K-1 has a deadline to interview. USCIS only approves for 4 months. Also, there is no packet 3 to complete or do. For a K-1 you go straight from NVC to medical to interview. You print and bring the forms with you. This is different from the I-130 forms with the packet 3 needing completed. However, on the I-130 you ARE an immigrant. Your two years starts as soon as you enter the USA. On a K-1, you are NOT an immigrant, and are not an immigrant until the AOS is filed. On a K-1, if you fail to marry, you go back home. You cannot stay. If you marry someone other then the petitioner, this is also a violation of the K-1.

Just like u wait the same amount of time so I feel also we should have the ability to make our own appointments as well to be fair to all.

I haven't heard of a situation where the Embassy will not revalidate the petition, if an interview has been scheduled. our NOA2 was 7/31/06. we were scheduled an interview in Nov 06. the interview was on 12/13/06, over 4 months. the Embassy automatically revalidated the peition. If for some reason the interview cannot be scheduled before the end of 4 months, I'd contact the Embassy to make sure the petition is revalidated.

I agreee that you shouldn't be penalized for being married already. We could all be out of luck if something doesn't happen with the budget in the next couple of days.

I'm sure these interviews are not considered essential goverment services.

That's what I though but I was able to schedule online even if the embassy doesn't have my physical case nor the electronic ones. If you call, they wont even schedule you cos they will advise you to wait for the packet 3. Do the scheduling online, trust me there's a glitch LOL

We don't have packet 3. The process is the same as yours the only difference is that we pay ahead our visa unlike K-1 you are paying the visa at the country your having your interview. So we have to be penalized because we can't make appointments on our own when our case is closed.

From the USEmbassy website:

How much time is given to complete the K-1 visa application?

A K-1 petition is valid for four months from the date of its approval. But this may be revalidated by a consular officer provided that both parties are still legally free to marry. It is recommended to gather all the necessary documents for the visa interview appointment as soon as possible.

I understand the complaints about the I-130. those should be discussed in a separate thread. I am SPECIFICALLY ASKING about K-1. Please keep to the K-1 issue of scheduling and time. I am hoping to see my fiancee plus take her to the embassy in 6 to 7 weeks. But again this is a hope. I am trying to find out, IF this is appropriate or if I need a reality check.
