I live in the United States, and I've offered to host my two friends, an unmarried couple, at my house for three weeks for a visit. They are Polish citizens, currently living in Ireland, with the intent of simply coming here for vacation for three weeks.

My friend is worried that they'll be denied tourist visas under suspicion of trying to stay here illegally if she tells them they're staying at a friend's house. What are the chances of being denied a visa simply on suspicion?

This shouldnt be a problem at all. The real problem in getting these tourist visas is always about the strongest ties rule. All people holding visas are considered intending immigrants. As such they have to prove they intend to return to their country. This will require some consideration in my opinion because they will be returning to Ireland I assume & not Poland. They will have to prove the need to do so. Usually this is demonstrated by owning land, having jobs, having family ect. In this case they must prepare to explain why they must return to Ireland. One way to do this is to write the explanation to submit to the embassy with the application. This gives the officer the chance to read the reasoning instead of just listening to a protacted story. The decision is made quickly & many times is made before the actual interview.

Thank you for the information! I will definitely recommend to them to submit this in writing prior to their interview. That seems to be wonderful advice!

I wanted to edit my post, but found that I couldn't.

It seems that their local embassy does not want any supplemental documentation submitted prior to the interview. Additionally, the DS-160 must be completed and submitted online. Thank you for the suggestion though. It's still nice to hear that the Embassy should not be suspicious if they intend to stay at a friend's house.

If it were me I would still submit the info if possible. They still need to concentrate on being ready to give evidence about what will compel them to return. I suggest they make a list of reasons by priorities. People get nervouse at the interview so sometimes dont do a good job of providing the info.

Right. I'll be helping my friend to make sure she has everything prepare and ready so that she won't have anything to worry about by the day of the interview. Thank you.
