You might be Filipino if traffic laws, signs, and things painted on the road are merely suggestions.

You might be Filipino (or Californian) if you never slow down, for pedestrians, for other cars, or for traffic signals.

You might be Filipino if you honk your horn or flash your headlights instead of using turn signals. (Californians don't even give you that.)

you might be filipina if you cook the most delicious foods on earth, but put everything including packaging, clipped off fat, yesterdays rice, and old newspapers in the sink turn on the water and hope for the best. and insist on washing dishes in a large bowl instead of the sink.

haha! And here I thought washing the dishes in a large bowl instead of the sink was just a quirk about my wife. I didnt know others had this same experience... wow. I have been learning a LOT of cultural things about my wife I thought all along were just odd or differenct ways of doing things. I guess my ways must sure seem odd to her as well though...

You might be a Filipino if...

You have 2 cell phones to text to family and friends in the Philippines (1 to receive texts on a roaming Philippine sim and 1 US based one to reply).

You eat rice with a mix of cooking oil and soy sauce.

My wife just asked me tonight, "Do you always have to stop?"

Yes, there is a stop sign there.

"But, what if nobody is on those roads, do you still have to stop?"

Yes.

You might be filipino if you put something (coat, book, umbrella, hand, etc.) over your head when you're outside, 90% of the time. (when it looks like rain, when it might be hot, when... basically most of the time)

You might be filipino if you have to pay 3 or 4 different government fees in order to take a job.

You might be filipino if you refuse to take a picture with 3 people in it. 2 is ok and more than 3 is ok. 3 is unlucky because 1 might die!

You might be filipino if you bless yourself before you take a shower, before you leave the house, and many other times.

You might be filipino if you duck down and put your hand if front of you as you pass between or near others carrying on a conversation.

Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads which sew people together through the years.
