I recieved my packet 3 today and boy am i confused. I have a few questions..................

On the IV15 it looks like someone has crossed out DS-156K, does that mean I dont have to fill that form out, maybe as im K3?

Then on the DS-156 form Q40 - Application prepared by.......do i just write my name? If so what do i right in the relationship to applicant section?

Then I have to fill the DS-156 out all over again correct?

Then is my husband meant to fill out the I-134 and I take that with me to the interview?

Finally, i send these forms back now correct and then when I have my police record I send the checklist back. Will they send me a interview date before they recieve my checklist?

Many thanks!

Regarding the question 40 part, you only fill that part out if you had help with filling the form in (it says before that, did you have help filling it in, and I assume you put 'No'.

I'm not sure about the DS156K as I'm a K1....

Filled mine out this evening, sending back tomorrow!

CapeG,

Good question about the DS-156K. That form was intended for fiance(e)s, but then so was the I-129f petition, in the days before the K3 visa existed (not long ago). My K3 wife submitted an I-156K without asking the question, maybe she didn't need to?

DS-156 Q40 is a follow-on to Q39. You could fill in your own name, if you fill out the form yourself. Your relationship to yourself is 'self'?

Instead of filling out 2 DS-156, why not fill out 1 and photocopy it? Before signing the original copy, of course.

Any consulate that I know of will not schedule an interview until the applicant tells them that they are ready for an interview. (Many visa applicants lie, and send back the signed checklist before they are ready in anticipation that they will be ready by the time the interview comes along. Most get away with it, but a few have embarassed themselves.)
