Checked Baggage Fees

To all those who have traveled from the Philippines to the US...

Did you have to pay for checked luggage that you brought with you? Did anyone not have to pay?

I know here in the US you have to pay for checked bags for domestic and international...and it can get quite expensive. Have a look:

Airline Baggage Fees

Trying to figure out if it would be cheaper for my fiancee to ship most of her belongings UPS (or some other carrier) or take them with her on the flight.

She will be flying Philippine Airlines to Tokyo and then Continental to the US.

Anyone have any experience with Continental?

Thanks!

Brian

I think it depend on which airlines ticket you are puchasing. Like, Korean Air have 2 Pieces check-in baggage(max. 23kg(50lbs) per piece) for their Economy class...

http://kr.koreanair....&rgn=sg&ctg=300

2 Pieces (max. 23kg(50lbs) per piece)

(Each piece may not exceed 158cm (62ins) in size, and the size of the two pieces combined may not exceed 273cm (107ins).)

I have flew numerous time to Philipines from USA, Up to 2 bags are free on International FLight from USA

Same thing flying from PI to USA, Most carriers give you 2 bags free. Of course there is weight limit.

Check your particular Airline she is flying and have them send the bags to her final destination, not her port of entry.....

I have read that on here.

I flew from Manila to Dallas in March, My POE was San Francisco. I had them send my luggage to Dallas (My Final Destination), and I went thru customs in San Francisco and I only had my backpack which was carry on

When I arrived in Dallas I got off the plane and went and picked up by luggage.

I have flown both Delta and Hawaiian Airlines internationally with 2 pieces of checked baggage and no fees.

When returning from the PI via the Detroit airport they make you grab all your bags (checked and carry on), go through Customs then place your checked luggage back onto a conveyor belt to be delivered to your connecting flight.

That's what I do on Domestic flights also, I think the thought of charging you money to check a bag is a rip off

Another bad thing about flying in the USA or a USA based carrier is that all the Flight Attendants are so old and ugly, And God Forbid if you ask them for a blanket or a drink.......
