Hello all, I need some guidance here. The Dept. of State sent me a letter on April 5th saying that my fiance´s application would be sent within a week to the consulate in Guayaquil, Ecuador. I have repeatedly contacted the consulate (through the purchase of a $12 pin that lasts for 8 minutes, I just used up my 3rd pin yesterday) and his application is still not in the system. Is it normal for this part to take so long? Does it normally take more than 3 months from the application being sent to the embassy to being able to schedule an interview? They can´t even give me an idea of when his application will be in the system and I am getting really frustrated. If anyone has had experience with this sort of thing, especially in Ecuador please let me know if there´s anything I can do. Thanks all,

Michelle

It normally takes about 2 weeks but I think some are taking a little longer at present. Do you have the new case number so you can track it? Sounds like you need to talk to someone at NVC and find out if/when it left.

Mar 2011 - After 5mths denied for lost docs - Attempts to follow up failed. Mar 18 2012 - I-129F sent - No sign of NOA1 but they have banked the check...Jul 24 - Update - USCIS has located our file
Infopass Apt - they sorted through everything - our 2011 and 2012 file keep getting mixed up - getting us a Case# (still waiting) Dec- Infopass Appt- expecting to get a case # in about a week ..Still no Case number

Mar 2013 Infopass - advised file was in a box somewhere, and it would be quicker for us to refile. Life gets in the way... New petition submitted July 2014 .

Don't waste your time with those PIN hags -- they're surely paid a commission on the basis of how many times they can jerk us around and make us call back.

Call NVC first to ask.

If that doesn't pan out, e-mail IVGuayaquil@state.gov to ask.

If you can't get a satisfactory answer within 72 business hours from the nameless respondent, send me a PM.

And you ARE planning to be present for the interview once it's scheduled, si man?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I just looked online again and my case number is under April and it says the Packet 4 was sent on April 8th. How can this be when I´ve called repeatedly since April and they´ve told me it´s not in the system!? And here´s the kicker, they put my fiance´s nationality as Dominican Republic when he is Ecuadorian! Now what do I do to correct this mistake?

I'm bumping this up for you cause I noticed from your other thread that you got your NOA2 in the beginning of April.

That means your NOA2 is reaching its expiration date so maybe somebody here who knows about your embassy sees this and can give you more info on how to contact the embassy cause I don't think you have too much more time to waste.

Also it seems since your fiance is a resident there, so he can still interview there even if his nationality is screwed up, plus his passport shows his correct nationality right?

Good luck!

NOA1 - 12/21/15

NOA2 - 04/18/16

NVC Receive - 04/29/16

NVC Welcome - 05/13/16

DS-261 - 05/14/16

AOS, IV PAID - 05/27/16

DS260 done - 06/10/16

Case Transferred to US Embassy in Riga Latvia at the end of October.

If you really want it, you'll find a way!
