Just need some clarification for K1 visa interview

Just want to ask few things here:

1. Are bank statement really a MUST?

2. My fiance is living together with some room mates this time. Our plan is to just get an apartment when I get there since it is just additional expense this time while I am not yet there with him. Will this be a problem to our K1 visa to be approved?

3. How do they look at the poverty level guideline? my fiance is earning 80k in his recent job not including his retirement. however part of it is given to his ex-wife as part of the alimony and child support. Will it still be enough to meet the poverty guideline? Will they also include my children even if they will not be going along with me this time ( follow to join)?

4. If the children will follow to join...are we opted to pay for their visa right there and then and have them interviewed? or it can be done at a later time?

Thank you!

1) I would include them, too easy to do it. Might not get looked at, but better to be safe than sorry.

2) No one will know unless you tell them.

3) You have nothing to worry about. 2011 poverty guidelines for USA... http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/11poverty.shtml

4) Later is fine, I have read many have done just this on VJ.
