Jon Huntsman revs up to take on 'a bunch of cranks' for GOP nomination

In six days time Jon Huntsman plans to officially launch his bid for the Republican presidential nomination in view of the Statue of Liberty – the same place as Ronald Reagan.

One of Huntsman's advisers told Esquire that Huntsman will call for a rapid withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan, and laid into Huntsman's rivals for the GOP nomination as "cranks" and the field of candidates being "the weakest since 1940":

There's a simple reason our party is nowhere near being a national governing party," Weaver told Esquire. "No one wants to be around a bunch of cranks.

In an email to supporters from Huntsman's wife, Mary Kaye:

In less than a week, a new generation of conservative leadership will emerge. No loud voices or drama, instead a vision for America that reverses the course we're on.
