While filling out section 5 of the DS-156K, in which you list "name, date and place of birth of all unmarried children under 21 years of age", it is also asked, for each of the listed children, whether that child "Will Accompany You" or "Will Follow You". The sense of this seems fairly obvious, but as I havn't found any instructions or clarifying documentation (¡Qué sorpresa! ¿Cierto?), I was wondering what effect the answer(s) to this section actually have on how the child's visa is issued and/or how/when it can be used. Earlier in this process I thought/hoped that the visa for the older of the two children involved (age 18) could be issued along the other two visas (the mother's and the other child's, age 15) but could be used some months later. But since this form asks about "now" or "later", yet doesn't ask about specific dates regarding "later", I'm quite confused.

Is it possible, for instance, to say "Will Follow You" (to make the visa more flexible) yet the child accompanys the parent (because it is later decided that that is best)?

Has anyone been through this, and if so, could you shed some some light on this murky path?

Thanks
