After waiting for 6 months as a Permanent Resident since I filed for my husband's I-130, I finally got my NOA2! I actually didn't expect to hear anything. I just became a U.S citizen on the 20th of May and sent the letter with the changes (I also changed my last name to my husband's) on monday, it wasn't supposed to get to CSC until tomorrow...Today I got my NOA2 and it was actually dated for the 20th of May.

Question 1: Do I need to resend my change of status from permanent resident to citizen to NVC now? (I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this...)

Question 2: What forms should I have ready? I have DS-230 filled out, but my husband still needs to sign. I already sent him a template for e-mailing DS-3032, we're just waiting for case number. I will be calling tomorrow morning. My I-864 is filled out, I already requested transcripts for the past three years from IRS. I need to get a co-sponsor, I will be working on that tomorrow.

Question 3: I sent in my original birth certificate (I am also from Colombia) and I know I can get another one at my "notaria" but to have my husband send me things is kind of a hassle (how do you all send things?). Will I need it to send with packet 3?

Question 4: Is there anything else I need to know at this point? Please advice me my fellow Colombians (or Colombian significant others)!

Anybody?

I did call NVC tonight. They told me to wait 4-6 weeks for case number. I will be calling every day for said number. I know it won't take that long.

kali1229,

For question #1, I'm not sure if you have to send them a copy of your naturalization certificate but try to get a hold of a rep at the NVC to see what they say.

As for the process at the NVC, I strongly recommend reading the EZGuideSpouse which will guide you through it step by step.

Since you're now changing your petitioner status from permanent resident to US citizen, you won't need a copy of your Colombian birth certificate but I'm sure you will need to send them a copy of your naturalization certificate. I guess that kind of answers question #1, but again, try to get a hold of someone at the NVC so they can confirm what they need from you, if anything.

Also, there is no longer packet 3. All you need to do is follow the EZGuideSpouse and that should not only tell you what you need to send the NVC, but it will also make the process go by faster since you'll be paying for all fees online and you will also be able to print out the barcoded coversheets.

As far as I know most people can pay for all fees online since you're dealing with the NVC directly and not with the embassy.
