Vancouver Canucks advance to Stanley Cup finals

2011/05/25 08:55 ET

VANCOUVER (Reuters) – Vancouver advanced to their first NHL Stanley Cup finals in 17 years after Kevin Bieksa's goal in the second period of overtime game them a 3-2 win over the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday.

The Canucks clinched the Western Conference title with the Game Five victory and will face either the Boston Bruins or the Tampa Bay Lightning in the Stanley Cup finals.

Vancouver forward Ryan Kesler, who had to leave the game briefly in the second period with a leg injury, scored with 14 seconds left in regulation to force overtime before Bieksa beat Sharks netminder Antti Niemi with a shot from near the blue line to clinch the win.

Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo was in inspirational form, making several spectacular saves among his 54 stops.

Actually, I know zip about ACC (the saying was about desis who live in Calgary, not those who live outside it), but no surprise that a cr@ppy biryani (given where it's made, it must be the case) costs a lot there.

Fixxored; last time I checked, Chennai (best biryani I tasted, made with free-range chicken in a Triplicane home), Guntur (where my wife--who makes excellent biryani--hails from), and Mangalore ("balancer" since my tastes in cuisine tend more towards Karnataka than either Tamil Nadu or AP) are all way outside of Pigtown.

Fixxored to reflect reality. Someone has a hatred for Toronto, haterz gotta hate. All I you need ever know about biryani is this: if it ain't Hyderabadi it must be shoddy.

which means you're quite ignorant of biryani. Those of Coastal AP and Rayalaseema rate Telengana (last time I checked, Hyderabad is in that region of AP, the most backward) cuisine as bottom-scrape.

And try running that by any Punjabi, and tell me afterwards!

I think you guys are talking about Indian food? My favorite and so tasty....I like the Lamb Korma or Lamb Haandi

There are some really good places in Michigan... Not sure how authentic it is but tastes good to me!

The location in Ann Arbor was so fresh I would joke that the spices and herbs were hand picked from the Garden of Eden...

Save your anti-Toronto, anti-Hyderabadi bias for the rest of the villagers, they might buy into it. My "ignorance" of biryani is called good taste, of course I wouldn't know it if I'd been fed that snack food that passes for Indian cuisine...

Oh cool. Do you remember the name of the place? My husband is there right now and I'm sure would enjoy a recommendation. Please and thank you.

As for the biryani combatants.... please stop or you will be banned from the thread. Thank you.
