Hi folks, i'm new here so i hope i posted in the right forum/place.

We are a family of 3,and got approved on May 4th for immigrant visas at the montreal consulate, DV LOTTERY winners. The interviewing officer, a lady, found everything in order and satisfactory and promised we would have our passports within 2 weeks at the DHL location we had chosen.

Checking online, there's no waybill number yet, and our reference numbers SHOW TRACKING FOR 3 DIFFERENT COMPANIES who had stuff delivered in the US last year etc. When i called DHL with our info, they confirmed documents have NOT been released to them by the embassy. I called DOS and they said they was no record of the visa being printed yet. I sent an email to montreal but no reply yet.

When i checked here, people who were approved on the same day, for other immigrant visas, already received their passports back(on average 5 days between approval and receipt of passports thru DHL). Even people who interviewed and got apprived several days later, 11th and 12th MAY, got their passports back.

Any idea what may be causing the delay? Is this normal? Any course of action to speed this up, incase they found out they needed more documents after we were approved, but have NOT contacted us yet( i.e pro-active)?

Incase they decide to put us in Administrative review/processing, even after they said APPROVED at the interview, do they communicate this or how do we get to know?

A) I agree with Inky, If you are originally from a different country they usually (not always) will put you in AP for a short period of time. So are you from a different country?

B) Yes in most cases visas are delivered in 2-7 business days but I can almost bet that you are looking at the time line for a k-1 or cr-1 visa maybe DV Lottery visas take longer to process and print.

C) Unless you are in AP for missing paperwork there is not much you can do. If it was for missing paperwork you would receive some type of notification.

D) Continue to call dos on a daily basis and check up on your case, there is not too much that you can do but wait it out.

Good luck

Thanks for the responses guys. The winner is a PR in canada, citizen of Tanzania. His wife and child are canadian citizens. Will wait and see plus call DOS.

I was hoping to get feedback from a DV lottery winner and compare notes.

You likely wont find many DV lottery winners in the Canada Regional section, because Canadians are not allowed to enter the DV lottery unless its the foreign person who applys and then brings the wife/husbands who is Canadian with them.

You can try posting here - http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/140-diversity-lottery-visas/

That is the link for the DV lottery section of VJ.

Here's an update:

Montreal replied to the email today saying "visa was issued last week, contact DHL." They then listed the numbers to call. Email sent by OP 1

However, there's no waybill number online, and DHL said there's NO record of the documents leaving the embassy. The reference numbers we have take us to some other company shipments. DHL said get waybill from the embassy, so i wrote to the embassy again asking for it.

I also called DOS, they said there's NO RECORD of the visa/s being printed for our case. I informed them of the correspondence from the embassy, the lady said maybe it was 'issued' but not YET printed into passport.

I'll wait for communication from montreal, anyone knows this procedure of 'ISSUANCE' and 'PRINTING' of the visa and why it would take so long after issuance to print????? Sounds strange to me

The embassy does not issue waybill numbers.

Thx Inky for the response but i think DHL issues the waybill to the consulate for the shipment(and is sometimes displayed online) after receipt of the documents from the consulate. The consulate must have a DHL account, waybill is the only way the embassy will track shipments!Individuals and companies who ship documents through DHL get waybill numbers too for tracking purposes.
