Hi,

My GF is citizen of USA and I am from europe and we are going to apply for a K1 visa, in order to get married and live together.

Right now I am living in my country in Italy but probably I will have to travel US for about 3 months from Otc to Dec 2011 with the Visa Waiver Program for business reasons.

Do you think I can have troubles with the K1 VISA process if it is already started?

Can I pause in any way the VISA process?

Do you suggest me to start the VISA process when once I came back to Italy?

Thank you for your help!!

Hi Marco,

You are completely allowed to visit her in the US during the process. The airport customs won't know you have applied for the visa. It takes about 5 months from applying to an approval so depending on the timing, just make sure you are in Italy for your interview. It takes such a long time you might as well do it as soon as possible and not wait until after your trip. I visited my fiance in April under the Visa waiver program and everything went well :)

You will have to make it very clear at POE if you are visiting your fiancée or a for business purpose.

Respond appropriately to the officer at POE, you will have to tell the officer you have a fiancée in US.

If you are travelling for business, I would recommend that you carry documents from your employer stating the reason for visit etc and your K1 case paper to show you are doing it correct way.
