I tried to find the answer in the search engine...unsuccessfully.

What if the NVC letter stating my case number got lost and I couldn't remember it. Which number can I call to ask for my case number?

Thank you.

I'm not sure I understand your questions - NVC doesn't have anything to do with NOAs.

You mean what if you don't get a NOA2 in the mail sent by the service center (and not NVC)? You can request one: http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/dupapp.htm

To call NVC, you'll need your NOA1 number, not the NOA2.

Sorry...I meant to type "NVC letter"....if I understand the process right, after approval, one will get NOA2, then a letter from NVC with a case number saying that the case is forwarded to beneficiary's consulate. Is that right?

What if I didn't receive the NVC letter...? Who can I call to ask about the number?

Aaah. Don't worry about that. You can always call NVC (or e-mail) them and by giving them your NOA1 number, you'll get the case number assigned by NVC.

(603 334-0700). Operators are available to respond to more difficult inquiries from 7:30 AM to 12:30 AM (EST) Monday through Friday. Status of case information and access to an operator can only be provided by entering your NVC case number or CIS receipt number on a touch-tone telephone. Case inquiries can also be made via email at NVCINQUIRY@state.gov. NVC only has information on petitions it has received.
