visa for sibling

I am hoping someone can verify this, in case I got confused while I was looking this up. If someone gets citizenship, they can apply for their brothers and sisters to come here. The process for the paperwork takes... about 10 months? Then if approved, they are on a list? And the wait on that list is now about 11 years? So, once that paperwork is sent, it will take about 12 years before the brother(s)/sister(s) actually get here?

And the process is similar to one for other family based visas, except that the proof of relation is easier - you just need to prove that you are related, not have to show pictures or anything like that?

I'd like to figure it all out before starting the process, and make sure I know what I think I know!

Yes you are pretty much correct. The wait is between 11 and 23 years, depending on which country you are from. No need for picutres. They may ask for a DNA test if they doubt your paperwork (birthcerts etc).

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

How can I find out the more specific timeline by country? There's a big difference between 11 and 23 years (although both are a long time!)

Thank you so much!

This month's visa priority dates are here: http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/bulletin/bulletin_5424.html A sibling is F4 category, so basically, it is about 11 years unless they are from Mexico (15 years) or Philippines (23 years). Of course, this can change a lot in those years- you may end up waiting several fewer years, or many more!
