Hi all VJers! :)

Since we started our journey for the K1, Igor's list became very addicting and i know it's the same for many here on VisaJourney :P

We noticed though that many "Unapproved" petitions are likely approved, because the petitioner last activity here on VisaJourney is more than 30 days ago. So here are the real numbers of people that received NOA1 more than 5 months ago and visited the website at least once in the last 30 days but unfortunately didn't receive their NOA2 (good luck to all!!!).

May 2010: 0 (10)

June 2010: 1 (10)

July 2010: 3 (22)

August 2010: 1 (14)

September 2010: 14 (30)

October 2010: 42 (52)

November 2010: 54 (69)

In the parentheses there is the total "unapproved" value you can see on Igor's List. I repeat, this is the situation for the K1 at VSC.

Interesting. I've always found this site to be a paradox when it comes to estimating K1 times. On the one hand it's the only large enough site that brings together people with the information needed, but on the flip side, the majority of posts deal with "I haven't gotten mine yet" which indicates the large majority of the population after filing their K1 (using the site as an informational resource) use this site for venting or seeking information but on over-due filings.

I'd safely assume most people who get their NOA2 in a respectable time would not bother posting again. Most of the posts who do announce they got a K1 are generally folks who either A. waited an extended period of time or B. are the kind who post on this site every day.

On top of that, I think the numbers can be skewed due to people whose cases are outliers. I.e. complications most folks don't have to deal with - previous K1 tries, still trying to get a divorce finalized, etc, which would extend the average time-line, but are outliers most on here don't have to deal with.

I've come to the conclusion, better or worse, that like everyone here, our case is different, it will be seen by some faceless/nameless person who I'll never know who is different than 95% of other people's reviewers, and will thus have a different estimating time. The best bet after the first couple weeks of obsessing over estimated time-lines is to relax, help others that come after you with their filing, and just not pay attention to the days or months. If the time comes when you need to complain to a senator, do so, but otherwise just relax.

We'll get ours one way or the other, but trying to guess when is only going to drive me bonkers. And basing it on the time-lines of others is like judging your child against someone elses child - apples and oranges. Especially because those in early 2010 had a smoother ride, those at the end of 2010 had a rougher one, and those in early 2011 seem to moving slightly faster.

It's basic physics: Obsessing over a clock is going to make time slow down.

I have to say that Igor's List is nice to look and reassure yourself a bit, but it is by no means 100% dependable. And sometimes it can just aggitate you more, especially when you see people who filed and got approved less than a month afterwards and you have been waiting for 3 months already. I got into the habit of looking at it everyday myself. It is addictive!
