Hey all,

I was wondering do I need to send in the w2 for the current year? I don't think I made any copies of it so if I do need to send that in then I guess I'm stuck.

Kirby, there is no such thing as W2's for the currant year (2011) You mentioned earlier that you have been working for 4 to 5 months now and above the poverty-line. That information is important. 2010 tax returns (W2's) are a required and the Philipphines might want to go back 3 years. But, hold the faith. CURRANT INCOME is what they want to see. This is not easy for me either. Were in the same boat. What was your last year Gross Income? And what are you making Now? We can't help eachother if were not honest with eachother.

Last year I'm not sure I think I made about 15k, I actually meant 2010 w2. I make 25k now though. But I was wondering because I know you are supposed to send current tax things but I didn't make any copies of my w2 for 2010. And my fiance interview is coming soon, so I don't think I will have enough time to get a copy of them and get it to her. I will be sending the tax return for 2010 but I read you needed to submit the w2 with it and I don't know if it meant the actual little form that the employers give you.

W2 and tax returns are not the same thing. you can't have a W2 for 2011 because 2011 ain't over yet. you will have the tax returns for 2010, which were to be filed by yesterday.

do we actually have to send the w2 though? I mean it doesn't ask for it in the instructions?

:help: I think I'm on Mars. You have time to Order Tax Transcripts and is more preferred by Consulars over a W2. ( 1-800-908-9946 ) or (1-800-829-1040 ) They will give you 3 years back at no charge of your taxes. (Gross Income).

The instructions do say that the tax things are needed if we are self employed right? So doesn't that mean that since I am not self employed, I really wouldn't need the tax transcripts?

Your evading your own Original Question. Now, your saying that making a few dollars under-the-table and not reporting it has come-back to haunt me now. So now you are looking for answers to make your Petition look Kosher. I don't have your answer to that. If your working now and saving check-stubs and your Employer will attest of wages, etc. Then thats good.

Also, understand: It is not "We" it is "You" the Petitioner.

Well I'm just curious because it does just say if the petitioner is self employed to send tax transcripts. I am sending one from 2007 because I didn't work in 08-09 because of school. I do have copies of my w2 in turbo tax. Don't know if that is good enough for the w2. But I don't think I have enough time to get the w2 from the IRS because I read that it takes about 60 days to get to me.

Anyway, I have to push back the interview date and I was able to find the w2 forms so I'll make copies of them. It is ok to just send copies of them right? I have to push back the date because I didn't know I had a tax transcript for 2008. I was away at school but I had one so I have to order it. Anyway thanks Tim for answering my questions.

just as a point of clarification, the W-2 is not from the IRS, you receive it from your employer. it doesn't take 60 days to recieve a tax transcript from the IRS, I believe it's 2 weeks or less. http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=232168,00.html
