PLease though i have been following topics wonderful discussion from VJ members...i must said that this

this site is really wonderful and informative...definitely...i waited patiently for one year to got married with my wife and submitted my L-130 on 11th of this month...my question is...my wife is about to undergo a surgery

that will keep her in a hospitalized for weeks on 15 of july...is it wise to request for expedition so that i will hand her hand during this trying moment and we have a stepson...who need to be care for..

Please i will like to hear..if it is wise and how to do it.

thanks in anticipation of your reply

You can always try to expedite at USCIS but it will take longer to get thru the NVC and embassy interview unless you try expediting those as well. (one expedite doesnt push thru the next level, you have to do it at each level) You can call USCIS and tell them you are requesting to be considered for expedite and tell them why...there are certain criteria for expedition...

we got ours thru the uprising violence in karachi and applied thru humanitarian expedition but now we are at the mercy of NVC and the embassy until we can get a case number from NVC and try expediting there as well. We applied for expedite on March 3rd got expedite approval on March 8th and got our NOA2 email confirmation of approval on MArch 24th. Now waiting for NVC to get our case so we can push ahead.

Call USCIS tell them what you need, they will give you a referral number and ask for email and contact info...they may require you to send documents or pdf files of the medical issues etc. be prepared to send those documents in right away with a doctors letter stating her required recovery etc.

No way of knowing if USCIS will expedite this or not but you won't know until you try.

Good luck!
