N-600 or US Passport for minor

My friend's N-400 is pending. I know that once she becomes a US citizen, her daughter will automatically become one. She has her biometrics scheduled for next week. She has lived in the US for almost 6 years. Citizenship for her child is no issue. Should she pay the N-600 fee of $600 or try to obtain a US passport for her daughter? Please share your experience. Thanks!

Depends on whether she has more money or more brains. The N-600 serves to get a Certificate of Citizenship which in turn serves to get the very first US passport. Thereafter it disappears forever in a dark safe. If I can get a passport without a Certificate of Citizenship, I would only spend the $600.00 for it if I make at least $1K a day, every day.

Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . .
