As my husband (the Petitioner) has been living with me in Europe for most of the last year, and was only working part-time before that, he doesn't have enough income to support me for the purpose of the affidavit of support. Therefore we decided to use assets, as we don't want to ask his parents (or anyone else) to co-sponsor. The assets are currently short term investments (very easily convertible to cash) in a US investment account in my husband's name, but the funds were all transferred from my accounts in Europe within the few months. My question is, do we need to provide evidence of where the money has come from? I know the instructions don't specifically ask for this, but if the question is likely to be asked I'd rather send that evidence up-front than have a delay to the process of getting my residence permit. On the other hand, whilst I can easily show the money leaving my accounts in Europe, to really show where it originated (ie at least 10 years of savings from my employment income) would take a lot more effort (and paper).

Has anyone had any experience of being asked to prove the origin of assets?

Thank you

Clare

I don't think they will ask where the money came from but, it is gonna show on his bank statements that it has been transferred big amount of money recently so i am thinking they might ask how did that happen but i am not sure if he said it is your money and you gave it to him to sponsor you, what impact would that be on the officer, just throwing ideas

Good Luck
