Do you guys have a preference on which facility to use to do physical and vaccination. I am leaning toward IOM right now. Any input?

I have no personal experience with IOM. My wife and step kids went through Cho Ray. They went before I arrived in VN, so I didn't get to see what it was like. They didn't complain about it, but all three had serious bruises on their arms where they took blood.

I think I will call IOM first since it is an international non-profit organization.

I don't know about IOM, however my wife went to Cho Ray. I accompanied her. We were were there about 3hours. The nurses were rude and after the physical exam and xray they sent us to another location for the vaccinations. I forgot the name and address of that place. Sorry I will ask my wife and get back to you today on that. We then had to drive there to that location to get her shots then drove back to Cho Ray to turn the vaccination records in. We had to come back to Cho RAy the next day to pick up the result. And that did not go smoothly either. We were there for almot 2 hrs and we went early. I'm not sure if this is a Cho Ray thing or that's just how Vietnam operate. They only take American $$$$ there.

The answer to your ? depends on the location where your S/O lives. For my S/O, it was obvious IOM made more sense because it was MUCH closer to where she lived. You or she already know how bad traffic gets in Saigon. She told me, btw, that IOM was clean and organized. That alone was worth your consideration.

Just remember, life over there in VN is NOT real! Your money will be worth a LOT less once you get back over here. Back to reality, cowboy!

My husband got his physical exam done at IOM. There is usually a very long wait at Cho Ray. My husband's experience was similar to other posts, he said IOM's staff were professional and organized, and the facility was clean. His report was ready the next afternoon. However, I recommend you review the medical records/forms that they complete for you if possible. They wrote his case number incorrectly and he had to ask them to redo the report (I think it was the DS-3205 report). Just remember, you have to pay in US dollars if you go through IOM. Either way, you're paying the same amount...but one is faster and cleaner.

Thank guys! I am going with IOM. After all, they were the one who helps my family get to the U.S in the first place.

My wife had her physical exam at IOM and it was a pleasant experience. She said the nurse and doctor were nice and easygoing. But she did do her vaccination somewhere else and it was horrible. Apparently, IOM does not do vaccination.

I believe it was the International Quarantine Center, on Nguyen Van Troi that you go to for the vaccination. I went with my husband when he had to get his vaccination, but they gave him a number and told him to come back on another day. Glad it went well at IOM :)
