Hello everyone! I am here to share my experience for applying AOS. Hope this helps people who have the same problem as I did.

While I was preparing all the documents for AOS I-485, the required NOA paper gave us a big headache. My husband never received any of them. All we had was an e-mail saying they are going to send the NOA letter. He called customer service and was told to file I-824 with paying another $405 which is rediculous. The response was just like many other posts on this website. I think those representitives are pretty "well-trained" to give the consistent answer after all. HA!

Anyway, we also got an infopass and drove 1 hour to the USCIS office, the very "unhelpful" lady told us "sorry, we don't issue NOA here. Can't help you." She then started doing her own stuffs without even telling us what other options we have.

I then carefully read all the posts from this websites and decided not to file I-824. Instead, I personally write a letter and attach it to where the NOA should be with all other required documents. This letter explains that my husband never received the NOA and is willing to fully cooperate if they need anything else later. I also put a copy of the email with it. I then sent out the package to USCIS and started praying everything goes well! The worst senario would be asked to file I-824 after they review all the papers. If so, I will pay for it. But until then, I would rather take the chances.

Fortunately, everything turned out perfectly. I got my green card last saturday along with the EAD card received just 2 days earlier! And I didn't even need to go to an interview to explain. Please refer to my timeline below.

Well, I just want to share my experiences with all the applicants after me as a feedback to the great outcome of my application. Of course I won't say it will work for everyone, but for those who are looking for alternative solutions and who have no time pressure if go into trouble during the process, it might be an option for you to try. Hope everyone gets through it smoothly just like I did.:lol:
