They have to be original as issued on security paper. That is what you will need at the interview and what they will look for in the US. They are cheap to get while in the PI, so get a couple extras. CENOMAR is only needed at the interview.

e. BIRTH CERTIFICATE. Your birth certificate should be a copy issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) on security paper (not from the Local Civil Registry Office). If applicable, you should also submit NSO birth certificates for all your children, even for those who are not applying for a visa. You may call the NSO Information Center at 02-737-1111 to inquire on securing a birth certificate or visit their web site at http://www.census.gov.ph. If the NSO does not have a copy of the birth certificate, you must obtain a statement about its unavailability from the NSO and obtain a certified original copy (not an extract) of the birth certificate from the local registrar in the town where you were born.

m. CERTIFICATE OF NO MARRIAGE RECORD (CENOMAR). If you have never contracted marriage, a CENOMAR (Singleness) issued by the National Statistics Office (NSO) and printed on NSO security paper should be submitted. You may call the NSO Information Center at 02-737-1111 to inquire on securing a CENOMAR or visit their web site at http://www.census.gov.ph.

A copy from NSO is what its needed based on what I read here. :)

I was at NSO few days ago to get a copy of my son's birth certificate for his passport and I thought since I'm there already (to save time) why not just get my CENOMAR as well. So I did but I was wondering why was it stated there that:

This is upon request for (NAME OF MY SON) for passport/travel purposes.

Is that alright? Should it be for marriage purpose or that kind of thing? Would that wont matter as long as it was stated their that I AM NOT MARRIED?

NSO copy will work. And for the CENOMAR, mine says FOR MARRIAGE PURPOSES only (we filed CR-1). I don't think there will be a problem with passport/travel abroad purposes but to be safe (since we don't want ANY hassle and we all waited this long and don't want delays), why not secure another one and free yourself from worrying about it :) It's cheap anyway.

Yeah right. I should've just secure another copy while I was there (I didnt thought of that. Dang!) NSO here sucks! It'll take a day or two to just get a piece of paper and considering that I have to fall in line under the sun.
