Anyway, OP, your question has been answered. And the answer is the beneficiary needs to leave the US. A K-1 visa is for people to get married to their American fiance, and ONLY their American fiance. They cannot simply choose someone else should things not work out. That's not how things work. Thankfully.

Yes, as previously stated, your friend will have to go back to her home country. There is no way to adjust status from any one other than the original petitioner.
