You can order tax transcripts for the last 3 years from the IRS. Since you just filed, I would wait until the IRS has your 2010 returns as well, because you will need to show income for 2010 anyway since your income will (in all likelihood) fall significantly past tax day.

Those transcripts are what you want and are sufficient proof for your income. You don't want H&R Block forms, W-2s, or anything like that. The transcripts are official IRS records of what you submitted as taxable income for the years in question.

Cortr,

Please confirm that all we need to turn in are tax transcripts. VJ members have been advising others to turn in W-2's, pay-stubs, and employer letter in addition to tax transcripts.

I'd rather not get a letter from my employer if I don't have to. I prefer keeping private matters private. I'm willing to make copies of W-2's and pay-stubs, but I won't turn them in to the consulate if I don't have to.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Employer verification of your current pay. I thought the way I read the "official form" only asked for one years Tax form, but my SO was scrambling for me to give her three years forms. I tried w-2s, but had to end up ordering the tax forms from IRS. If you have the forms copy them, and send them to the Consulate. Send the originals to your SO. I'd also make sure you note that you are sending copies and your SO will present the originals at the interview. In my case her interview was in January during the lock down time for tax information for my company, so I couldn't access my records on-line from my employer. Just another wonderful benefit of our flawless government.

Hope that helps

Eric,

Thanks for your advice. Was your SO asked to show the originals during her interview?

It also sounds like you or your SO wrote a cover letter to go with your I-134 and tax and income information stating that they are copies.

Thanks!!

US Con Guangzhou tends to prefer the same financial evidence that will be used later for adjustment of status.

I-864 for Adjustment of Status specifies either Tax transcripts or a FULL IRS Return. Most feel the transcripts are less complicated in cases where a full return involves several schedules, and deductions, etc...

US Con Guangzhou has been known to toss blue slips for a better affidavit of support.

I HIGHLY recommend joining and studying the P-3 ~ Interview and interview results forums on http://candleforlove.com The consulate tends to hand out denials to K-1s like candy to those who are unprepared.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.
