Hello and thank you for reading my question.

I filed an I-130 in October 2010 to bring my spouse here and several weeks later got my I-797C, Notice of Action with a priority date of October 21, 2010. I left the U.S. and spent nearly two months with my spouse over the holidays. During the vacation I had my mail held. When I came back, I had not received any additional correspondence concerning the case, nor have I since then. On the UCIS web site, my case is listed as being under 'initial review'. I am somewhat unclear as to what this means. I am concerned that perhaps something was lost in the mail or was not held properly. It has been 119 days since my priority date. Is this an unusual length of time to go without further contact? Should I contact UCIS and ask them to clarify our case status? I have been reading guides and faqs as well as the UCIS web site to glean info, but I'm still hazy on exactly how and when the process continues from here. Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!
