I wrote an email to the US embassy asking them if they had sent my packet 3 on Feb 11th. This is what they replied:

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for writing us.

As per the U.S Embassy please note an information packet (Packet 3) was sent to you on February 01, 2011 by regular mail. In that packet we advised you of the documents required for an immigrant visa application. When you submit the (Applicant's Statement), DS-230 Part-1, you will be scheduled for a visa interview as per the next available date. Please note that you may send us above forms by mail at “Immigrant Visa Section, US Embassy, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi”..The required forms are being sent to you as attachment with this response.

Now, I haven't got packet 3 in the mail and I don't even know if it got lost in the mail. I am assuming I can fill the two attachment's:

1. Applicant Statement

2. DS 230 (Part-1)

And just mail it to Immigrant visa section, US Embassy. Now at the bottom of the applicant statement it says Enclosure: Affidavit of Support (For i-134), DS 230 (part 1) and photo instruction.

What does that mean? Do we send out all of these to the embassy with the Applicant statement and DS-230 part 1. Photo instruction means what ? I am so confused.

Well...dont panic...the mail system in India is very poor as compared to other countries. Well...they would have definitely mailed thru Indian Post...

just go thru this link: http://newdelhi.usembassy.gov/ivpacket309k1.html

U just have to download DS-230 Part-1 form, not part-2. and prepare the Applicant Statement paragraph in word file as mentioned in their website.

sign it and send it immediately to US Consulate, New Delhi.

Alternatively, u can also print this packet-3 from their website and tick all the paragraphs which pertain to u. and then send to US Consulate.Dont wait any more for the packet-3 to arrive by mail.

only after they receive ur signed documents, u will get an appointment date.

Just give them ur Email address, they will then after respond u via Email and u will receive ur appointment letter thru email itself. there wont be any problem with regular postal mail.

Regards
