Just sharing.. in case you experience something similar. Both I485/I765 mailed on 10/13/2010.

EAD approved on 12/28/2010. On 1/14/2011 the online updates says "we mailed card" but USPS returned it so contact us and we will hold card for 180 days. We called the HOTLINE and were told it will be mailed out again. Incidentally we also received notification for I485 interview on 2/11/2011 (dated 12/28/2010) in early Jan. On 2/9/2011 we get an email update that we need to refile I-765 because our paperwork was lost. Our 2/11/2011 AOS interview went well - GC approved condiontionally for 2 years. The IO tells us this is "normal" = to have the I765 cancelled when the I-485 is approved, no need to pursue I765 as GC will be mailed in 90 days from 2/11. So the "confusing updates for I765" was normal. I am thinking this is due to fact that both the EAD approval and I485 approval occuring within a short timeframe and the USCIS system automatically "behave" this way!

We also have two sets of ANO's - same one from K1 visa was used for NOA for I765 but a new one was used for NOA for I485. The I485's ANO survives and will be used for further processing - I751, N400, etc.
