Thanks everyone for reading this. I will appreciate all helps can get from you good people of the world.

I waited for 6 months before getting the NOA2 approval of my I-129F (K1 or fiancee). NOA2 says to contact the consular office in LAGOS (Nigeria) for visa issuance. I've been on able to reach anyone in Lagos and all emails I sent resulted in auto responses. I called the Lagos numbers (posted at counsular section here on VJ) all night from here in the US (morning Lagos time) but all lines were ringing busy.

Here are my specific questons:

1. Is K1 an immigrant or non-imigrant visa? I've been getting conflicting answers on that question.

I ask because I need to know which of the auto responses from LagosIV@state.gov of LagosNIV@state.gov I should be following. I sent emails to both of the addresses when I didn't know the correct classification of K1.

2. I had tried to contact NVC (not sure if I called the right number) but the auto responder asked for an NVC case number which I didn't have. How do I know/get the NVC case number for my case?

3. I read a post on here that said to call DOS for the consular case number for the case after receiving NOA2.

I guess the consular case number is the LGS number for Lagos. Is the counsular case number (LGS in my case) the same as NVC number?

4. I'm trying to avoid further waste of time on my part, after waiting 6 months for NOA2. What can my fiancee and I do now that we have the NOA2 and couldn't reach anyone to determine what to do next? What do we do to keep the process going? My fiancee is prepared to go to the consular office in LAGOS in person but the auto reponse emails said not to come in person.

I'm totally confused and I need your help.

Thanks and God Bless you all.

1. K1 is a non-immigrant visa but consulates generally treat it as an immigrant visa. When you contact the consulate you should contact the immigrant visa department.

2. The NVC case number is the LGS number. The NVC assigned this number when they routed your case to the Lagos consulate.

3. It is the LGS number. this is your case number with the department of state assigned by the NVC and used by the consulate.

4. My fiancee is in Singapore and the consulate there sent her a package of papers to fill out about 2 or 3 weeks after we received the letter from the NVC. I don't know what the timeline is for lagos, but if the procedure is similar as the one in singapore then you don't need to do anything except for wait for the packet from the consulate. Someone with experience from the lagos consulate might be better at answering this last question.

Hello the K-1 visa is non immigrant visa but the Lagos consulate will treat it as an immigrant visa because it will lead to a green card

when one adjust status in the United States. Therefore you should email LagosIV@state.gov. The other email address is for people

applying for a tourist or business visa. The NVC will send you a letter informing you that your approved packet has been sent to the embassy.

The letter will state the LGS number on it. After you receive the LGS number you can email the embassy to find out your interview date. The

embassy works with the LGS number. You can call the NVC at 603-334-0700. They are open until midnight and it is good to reach them

at night. I hope this helps........GOOD LUCK.

Also Lagos does NOT mail out pkt 3 or 4 you can go to the dept of state website and download pkt 3 and start working on it now. If you already have your NVC case number from the NVC call them to see when it was sent to Lagos if you dont have it still call them give them your receipt number on your NOA1 and they will give you your new case number. They will also let you know when your case arrived there and when it left there headed for Lagos. When did you get your NOA2? If it is recent you might want to wait about 5days before you contact NVC for the aforementioned information. Once you know it is enroute to Lagos wait about a week then email the Lagos consulate for an interview date. It normally takes them two weeks to get back to you. Once they email you back with the interview date that is considered pkt 4 your interview date.Pkt3 will also be in that email which is the link to download the forms that I already mentioned you can download at the Dept of state website. Good LUck if you have any more questions pld do ask!!!

Welcome to VJ!!!!

Congrats on NOA2!!!!

Just looked at your timeline and noticed you got your NOA2 on Jan 26th so yes contact NVC and they will give you your new case number and it is possible your case is already in Lagos. Also FYI the Dept of State can also tell you if your case has been received in Lagos and if an interview date has been set....hope your not too confused.....

Thanks everyone that reponded to my questions. I'm indeed grateful.

I managed to get through to NVC this morning, shorlty afer posting my questions, and got my NVC (LGS) number!

I've since emailed Lagos with the information.

Thanks also for clarifying the Immigrant vs. Non-Imigrant thing. That was driving me nuts even though I knew the difference and expected K1 to be Non-Immigrant. Now I understand that it's treated like Immigrant visa.

I cant't thank you folks enough. All I can do in return is to be a regular contributor on this site so as to help others in the future.
