Well, I submitted my papers on Friday to the VFS. Currently they are not able to tell me where my passport is; what documents they sent to the Consulate or even if they sent the documents to the Consulate. If I do not hear from them within the next 3 hours, I will be contacting the British High Comission about this matter. I am now seriously concerned, for I feel that the woman I dealt with on Friday may have purposely misplaced my passport and documents due to the fact that I did not allow her to intimidate me.

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)

Conditional Green Card dated 24th October 2007

I-751 posted on 6th August 2009

Received on 7th August 2009 in VT

Passport was traced... they had no computer records of it (which is strange).. it was at the consulate... seems my visa has been approved ad that I will have my passport back wih the visa duly stamped next week.

2006-07-24: NOA2

2006-07-31: Case received by NVC

2006-08-01: Case leaves NVC to New Delhi Consulate via DHL

2006-08-04: Case received by New Delhi Consulate

2006-08-08: Packet 3 mailed out by consulate

2006-08-17: DS-230 Part I couriered to consulate

2006-08-23: Got interview date (email and telephone confirmation)

2006-08-28: Picked-up packet 4 from the consulate, counter 16 (between 2 PM and 3 PM)

2006-09-20: Interview Date (VISA Approved!!!)

2006-09-23: Picked up Passport with VISA from Blue Dot courier office (VFS did not hold it)

2006-09-27: Reached Home!!! (POE Chicago)

I-130 TRACK

2006-02-08: I-130 Sent

2006-02-27: NOA1

2006-05-03: NOA2 (Approved)

2006-06-12: Received and entered into NVC system

2006-07-08: Self Generated DS-3032 and sent to NVC

2006-07-08: Received I-864 bill from attorney

2006-07-11: Paid I-864 bill

2006-07-12: Received IV bill

2006-07-17: Receive I-864 package

2006-07-19: Send back I-864 package

2006-07-19: Pay IV bill (was out on vacation)

2006-07-31: Sent in self-generated DS-230 (after NVC was ready)

2006-08-03: Case being reviewed by NVC (per operator)

2006-09-12: Case sent to New Delhi Consulate

2006-10-04: Emailed Consulate and got Original Interview Date (10/20/06) posponed to April 2007

Congrats ..i am happy for you...

I am also getting scared and we have decided not to submit papers at VFS as these are very important documents and I dont want them to be lost ..And Shalz's finacee successfully cleared the interview without submitting the documents

It still has not hit me... I guess it will once I get my grubby paws on my passport :lol:

But I really do believe that VFS will not tangle with me... nor even attempt to... I do believe that very few have treated them as dismissively as I have done. It enraged me to see them play power games with an old woman... which is why I probably was as cutting as I was with them... :lol::lol::lol: I loved telling them they are just a collection point... a forwarding service... a post office for some Embassies... that they hold no power to grant or deny a visa so to stop acting as if they do :lol::lol::lol:

I also think the reason they were falling over themselves to try and sort things out for me is coz I am a British National... and that their business could be affected were the High Comission to become aware of their modus operandi... what they don't realise is that the British High Commission is going to be informed regardless - for I find it truly appalling that such people could be representing my country. :devil:

Just a quick note on the VFS office in Delhi -- looks like the complaints from people might have actually paid off. Or my wife had plain good luck. She went there yesterday and encountered very polite people who seem to care and said that whatever documents she did not have, she could bring directly to the consulate.

She gave them a local Delhi address (they asked for it) so that they could courier her passport there in case she missed the opportunity to pick it up personally.

So, there is hope of encountering polite people :-)
