Hello,

Just wondering If my wife would have to apply for an SS#? Wife's EAD is approved and awaiting production. Did not get interview yet, but already did biometrics. Need to file taxes by middle of April, wondering if I will have enough time to claim her as well. I have read that people were applying for SS# at local office after receiving their EAD. Just wondering if that is even necessary or would USCIS give you a SS# once green card is approved.

Thanks.

Darren

Take the EAD when it arrives and apply for an SSN.

USCIS has nothing to do with SSN at all. You must apply for it when you get the EAD card.
