Hello, I am adjusting my status through marriage.

Today I received and email from USCIS stating that my work authorization card has been mailed back by USPS to USCIS and marked as undeliverable. I am so upset because this has never occurred with any of my other uscis documents. My Question is does the work authorization card have to be signed for? If that was the case USPS should have left me a pink slip stating so and i would have went to the post office to pick it up and sign for it. I dont know i am so irritated right now, any advice will be appreciated thank you.

Common one that gets things returned is no name on mail box, or moved and have a forwarding order at the post office.

USCIS tends to mark correspondence "Return Service Requested" this tells USPS to return things rather than forward them.

And no, it should not have required a signature.
