Hi!

I hope your marriage is going well :)

If you are legally changing your name, then you should change all of your documents (ID, driver's license, passport, etc.) in order to match your new legal name. You would also do well by changing your bank accounts, insurance information, etc. If you are just calling yourself by that new name, but do not want to legally change it, then you can continue to use your same IDs and passport. The government is clear in that as long as it is not done as a way to avoid paying taxes, then you can use a different name. But perhaps other members have first-hand experience on the issue and they could give you additional advice.

Best wishes!

If you have not changed your name on your passport yet it is not big deal. As long as you carry your marriage certificate on you when traveling. As you are the USC you can get this done legally to your hyphenated name.

I am sure you could do this while waiting for his GC. Not sure how long that takes here in the US.

Divorced !st November 2012.

Married only 2 years 1 month
